January 2010 Dakota County Buys Electric Trucks for Park Maintenance; Custom Refuse Boxes Ease Trash Loading Operations Dakota County (Minnesota), located southeast of the Twin Cities, continued its efforts at it's lowering fuel costs and carbon emissions by purchasing two all-electric Vantage brand trucks. Both trucks will be used primarily for trash collection in the county parks. Hinged sides flip down on the Cushman Motor Company custom installed refuse boxes, making it easier for a single county worker to toss heavy (and often liquid-filled) trash bags into the box.
The nimble and tough Vantage EVX-1000 extended cab truck backs up to a dumpster. Powered by AGM batteries, the vehicle has a range of up to 40 miles per charge. Using the power lifter makes simple work of off-loading trash from the refuse box to the dumpster. |
